Delhi AI Grind: India’s First City-Centric AI Innovation Movement Launched

Delhi has launched 'Delhi AI Grind,' India's first city-centric AI innovation movement, aiming to prepare over five lakh students across 1,000+ educational institutions for an AI-driven future. Led by CM Rekha Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood, the initiative focuses on building foundational AI capabilities, training 5,000 teachers, and developing student-led prototypes across ten key sectors. It promotes responsible technology use and transforms institutions into innovation labs, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The Delhi government's Department of Education, Higher and Technical Education has unveiled 'Delhi AI Grind,' a groundbreaking city-wide initiative marking India's first city-centric AI and Innovation Movement. This ambitious program seeks to prepare over five lakh students, aged 10 to 25, for an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven future by fostering large-scale foundational AI capabilities across more than 1,000 schools, colleges, ITIs, and universities in Delhi.Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized Delhi's commitment to leading India's AI efforts, highlighting the goal of empowering every child, classroom, and community through technology. Education Minister Ashish Sood detailed the initiative's design, which focuses on training young people in structured innovation, problem-solving, and responsible technology use, aligning with 'India’s AI decade.' The program envisions transforming Delhi's educational institutions into active innovation labs where students identify civic and industry challenges and collaborate with government and industry partners to develop practical solutions.Over the next four months, 'Delhi AI Grind' plans to train 5,000 teachers as certified AI mentors, facilitate the development of 1,000 student-led prototypes, select 50 AI youth ambassadors, and publish a National Innovation Compendium. The initiative invites participation across ten crucial sectors, including transport, health, food systems, tourism, and digital education. Built on a ten-station innovation model, the program encompasses awareness, onboarding, district rounds, city showcases, and youth leadership engagement. It also promotes civic participation and responsible technology use, aligning with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, ensuring students become creators and guides of AI, not just consumers.
