The Delhi-NCR region, encompassing Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad, is grappling with severe heatwave conditions, with temperatures soaring to a scorching 43°C to 45°C as of April 26 afternoon. This intense heat is primarily fueled by persistent hot westerly winds and significantly above-normal temperatures across the area. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that these extreme heatwave conditions are expected to persist through April 27.However, a significant change in weather patterns is anticipated from April 28, promising much-awaited relief to the beleaguered region. This respite is attributed to a confluence of meteorological factors: a shift to cooler easterly winds, the influence of an approaching Western Disturbance, and the development of cloud cover. As a result of these changes, maximum temperatures are projected to decline noticeably, with a drop of 4–6°C expected across the Delhi-NCR. Furthermore, the forecast includes a higher probability of light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, which will further contribute to easing the harsh conditions and providing a much-needed cooling effect to the populace. Residents can look forward to a significant improvement in weather from Sunday onwards.
