Delhi is implementing a significant EV policy, banning new petrol two-wheeler registrations from April 2028. From FY29, only electric two-wheelers will be allowed for new registrations. This mandate extends to three-wheelers from January 2027, with school buses and commercial fleets also facing phased electrification targets. These measures are designed to aggressively promote clean mobility and substantially reduce pollution levels within the capital city.

Delhi is set to implement a transformative electric vehicle (EV) policy, commencing April 2028, which will disallow the registration of any new petrol-powered two-wheelers within the capital. This significant regulatory shift mandates that all new two-wheeler registrations from the financial year 2029 onwards must exclusively be electric models. The policy's scope extends beyond two-wheelers, with a similar transition planned for three-wheelers, which will become electric-only for new registrations starting January 2027. Additionally, the comprehensive plan incorporates phased electrification targets for other vital transport sectors, including school buses and commercial fleets operating across the city. These measures collectively represent a robust strategy by the Delhi government to aggressively promote the adoption of clean mobility solutions. The overarching goal is to drastically reduce vehicular emissions, combat severe air pollution, and foster a more sustainable urban environment in Delhi. This progressive stance underscores the city's commitment to improving public health and leading India's transition towards a greener transportation ecosystem, aligning with global efforts to mitigate environmental impact.
