Dixon Tech and Longcheer Form India JV for Smartphone and AI PC Manufacturing

Dixon Technologies and Longcheer Intelligence have established a joint venture, Dixtel Infocomm, to manufacture electronics such as smartphones, smartwatches, AI PCs, and smart devices in India. Dixon holds a 74% stake, with Longcheer holding 26%. The initial investment is approximately Rs 10 crore. This collaboration aims to enhance Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) capabilities and localize component production, facilitated by recent eased government approvals for investments from bordering countries.

Dixon Technologies has officially partnered with Longcheer Intelligence to create a new joint venture named Dixtel Infocomm. This strategic alliance is set to significantly boost India's electronics manufacturing sector by focusing on the production of a diverse range of smart devices, including smartphones, smartwatches, AI PCs, and other smart electronics. Dixon Technologies will maintain a majority stake of 74% in the new entity, while Longcheer Intelligence will hold the remaining 26%. The initial capital injection for this venture is estimated to be around Rs 10 crore.The primary objectives behind the formation of Dixtel Infocomm are twofold: to enhance Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) expertise within India and to promote the localization of component production. This initiative aligns with the Indian government's 'Make in India' vision, aiming to reduce reliance on imports and strengthen the domestic supply chain for electronic goods. A crucial factor enabling this collaboration is the recent relaxation of government approval processes for investments originating from countries sharing a border with India, streamlining the establishment of such partnerships. By combining Dixon's manufacturing prowess with Longcheer's intelligence in design and technology, Dixtel Infocomm is poised to become a key player in India's rapidly expanding market for smart electronic devices.
