EIL and GAIL Commission 60 KTPA Polypropylene Unit at Pata Complex

Engineers India Limited (EIL) and GAIL (India) Limited have successfully commissioned a 60 KTPA Polypropylene (PP) Project at GAIL’s Pata Petrochemical Complex in Uttar Pradesh. This milestone significantly expands India's petrochemical manufacturing base, boosts self-reliance, and reduces import dependence for polymers. The new unit will produce homo, impact, and co-polymers for diverse applications like packaging and automotive components, contributing to domestic supply and supporting national initiatives like Make in India.

Engineers India Limited (EIL), in collaboration with GAIL (India) Limited, has successfully commissioned a 60 kilo tons per annum (KTPA) Polypropylene (PP) Project at GAIL’s Pata Petrochemical Complex in Uttar Pradesh. This achievement marks a crucial step in expanding India’s petrochemical manufacturing capacity and advancing the nation's goal of self-reliance in polymers. The fully operational unit is set to significantly enhance domestic polypropylene supply, thereby reducing import reliance and catering to the increasing demand across vital industrial sectors.TheThe newly launched plant will produce three key polypropylene grades: Homo Polymer, Impact Polymer, and Co-Polymer. These versatile grades are essential for a wide range of applications, including packaging, automotive components, consumer goods, infrastructure materials, and healthcare products. By localizing the production of these high-performance plastics, GAIL and EIL aim to ensure a reliable supply, improve cost efficiency, and bolster India’s downstream manufacturing ecosystem, playing a critical role in meeting future domestic and industrial requirements.Beyond the core polypropylene unit, the project included the commissioning of all associated utilities, offsite systems, and seamless interconnections with the existing petrochemical complex. This integrated approach encompasses a dedicated Nitrogen Plant for stable operations and a Mounded Bullet storage facility for enhanced safety and storage capacity. EIL demonstrated its comprehensive project execution capabilities, managing the entire lifecycle from engineering and procurement to construction and commissioning. This large-scale brownfield expansion, integrated successfully with the existing Pata complex, underscores EIL's expertise in timely delivery while maintaining stringent quality and safety standards. The project aligns with national goals such as 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat,' contributing to import substitution and value addition to natural gas.
