Elcogen and JNK India Form Strategic Alliance for Solid Oxide Solutions
European electrolyser manufacturer Elcogen and JNK India have partnered to explore solid oxide technology for industrial waste heat recovery and green hydrogen production in India. This strategic alliance aims to integrate Elcogen's solid oxide stacks into systems to improve efficiency and decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors like green ammonia and e-fuels. The collaboration marks Elcogen's expansion into South Asia, leveraging India's vast industrial waste heat potential to drive cost-effective, low-carbon energy solutions.
European electrolyser manufacturer Elcogen has forged a strategic alliance with JNK India, an Indian engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company, through a new Memorandum of Understanding. This partnership focuses on exploring and deploying solid oxide technology across high-impact industrial applications, particularly for the recovery and utilization of industrial waste heat. The collaboration signifies Elcogen's strategic entry into the South Asian market, marking its first agreement with an Indian EPC player.Initially, the alliance will target hard-to-abate sectors, aiming to advance green ammonia, green urea, e-fuels, and Power-to-X projects, contributing to global decarbonisation initiatives. The companies will evaluate both technical and commercial pathways for integrating Elcogen's proprietary solid oxide stacks and multi-stack modules into these industrial systems. Furthermore, they plan to assess hybrid system concepts, combining solid oxide with alkaline electrolysis technologies, to enhance efficiency and potentially reduce the cost of green hydrogen production, aligning with the growing global demand for low-carbon fuels.India's industrial sector, consuming 42% of the nation's total energy, loses nearly one-third of it as recoverable waste heat, estimated at up to 250 TWh annually. By deploying high-temperature solid oxide technology, which effectively integrates waste heat, the partnership aims to unlock this underutilized energy resource. This will enable industries to significantly improve overall efficiency and lower their carbon intensity. Both companies emphasize their commitment to strengthening the green energy ecosystem and supporting India's energy transition goals through this collaboration.
