India, Australia to Deepen Education and Skills Partnership with 3rd AIESC Meeting in New Delhi

India and Australia are set to advance their education and skills cooperation with the 3rd Australia–India Education and Skills Council (AIESC) meeting in New Delhi. Co-chaired by ministers from both nations, the event will see India's UGC hand over a Letter of Intent to UNSW for an international campus in India, alongside the announcement of 10 new joint research projects. This meeting builds on prior collaborations and aims to broaden opportunities for students, teachers, and institutions, further strengthening the bilateral partnership.

The Ministry of Education announced the upcoming 3rd Australia–India Education and Skills Council (AIESC) meeting in New Delhi, marking a significant step to bolster bilateral cooperation in education, research, and skilling. The high-level meeting will be co-chaired by India's Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, and Australia's Minister for Education, Hon Jason Clare MP, along with other key ministers from both sides. A high-powered Australian delegation will visit New Delhi on 8–9 December 2025 for bilateral meetings and review sessions.A major highlight of the meeting will be the University Grants Commission (UGC) handing over a Letter of Intent to the University of New South Wales (UNSW) for establishing an international campus in India, aligning with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The AIESC agenda encompasses strengthening early childhood care and education, advancing teacher training, enhancing mutual recognition frameworks, expanding industry–academia partnerships, and scaling efforts in skilling and vocational education. Officials will also deliberate on expanding collaborative research, with the Ministry of Education announcing 10 new joint research projects under the SPARC scheme. Both countries are also set to unveil new MoUs and LoIs across education, training, and skill-building ecosystems. This meeting follows successful editions in Gandhinagar (2023) and Sydney (2024), further building on the Mutual Recognition of Qualifications (MRQ) agreement signed in 2023, aiming to unlock new avenues for cooperation and strengthen one of the most robust international partnerships.
