India-Russia Finalize 2030 Strategic Roadmap Amid Geopolitical Shifts

India and Russia, led by PM Modi and President Putin, reaffirmed their robust eight-decade partnership, finalizing a 2030 Strategic Economic Programme. The summit focused on enhanced labour mobility, energy security, nuclear cooperation, and connectivity, aiming to scale bilateral trade to $100 billion. Despite Western scrutiny and sanctions, both nations projected unity, emphasizing a multipolar world order and signalling that external pressure will not dictate their geopolitical choices, while India reiterated its stance for peace in Ukraine.

The recent India-Russia summit in New Delhi saw Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin reaffirming their long-standing partnership, portraying it as a stabilising force amidst turbulent global geopolitical realignments. Against a backdrop of escalating Western sanctions and the Ukraine conflict, the leaders finalized a 2030 Strategic Economic Programme, emphasizing that external pressures would not dilute their collaboration. They framed their relationship as central to building a multipolar world order, accommodating rising powers and offering alternatives to Western-led architectures.Key outcomes included an ambitious plan to boost bilateral trade to USD 100 billion by 2030. A significant achievement was the manpower mobility agreement, granting Indian workers smoother access to Russian job markets, which helps India manage migration pathways and assists Russia with workforce shortages.
