Kemvera, formerly New Iridium, has achieved significant process development milestones in bio-based chemical manufacturing, including completing the design for a 50,000-ton commercial plant and commissioning a pilot reactor. The company is commercializing bio-acetic acid and bio-ethyl acetate using U.S. bio-ethanol, supporting American corn farmers and domestic production. Rebranding to Kemvera reflects its vision to scale sustainable chemical solutions, reinforcing U.S. supply chain resilience and leadership in green chemicals.

Kemvera, recently rebranded from New Iridium, has made substantial strides in commercializing its bio-based chemical manufacturing platform. The company announced the completion of the process design package (FEL 1) for a planned 50,000-metric-tons-per-year commercial-scale plant and the design of a 500-metric-tons-per-year pre-commercial demonstration reactor. Additionally, Kemvera successfully commissioned its 20-metric-tons-per-year pilot reactor, validating continuous operations. These milestones collectively mark significant progress toward deploying bio-based acetic acid and bio-ethyl acetate using a proprietary catalytic platform.TheThe company leverages cost-advantaged U.S. bio-ethanol feedstock, primarily derived from corn, to support American farmers and bolster domestic manufacturing capabilities. This approach aligns with national priorities for agricultural value-add and U.S. leadership in advanced materials. Kemvera's solutions offer affordable, drop-in chemical alternatives to petroleum-derived products, enhancing U.S. supply chain resilience in a green chemicals market projected to reach USD 7.46 billion by 2033.Dr. Chern-Hooi Lim, Kemvera's CEO, highlighted that these achievements bring them closer to customer delivery, representing the culmination of research into scalable production from American-grown feedstocks. The Iowa Corn Promotion Board also expressed support, recognizing the potential for new, high-value markets for corn and strengthened rural economies. In the near term, Kemvera plans to apply its flagship products in footwear and disinfectants, with expansion into a wider range of consumer products expected. The company is actively raising Series A funding and seeking partnerships to build a vertically connected, sustainable domestic value chain.
