Lochan Adhikari Becomes First Sikkimese Engineer Appointed IE(I) Vice President

Shri Lochan Kumar Adhikari, a distinguished academician and administrator from Sikkim, has been appointed Vice President of The Institution of Engineers (India) (IE(I)). This historic achievement marks the first time an engineer from Sikkim has held such a national-level position within India's largest professional engineering body. His appointment brings immense pride to the state and its engineering fraternity, recognizing his over 27 years of experience and dedicated contributions to engineering education and leadership.

Shri Lochan Kumar Adhikari, a prominent academician and administrator from Sikkim, has made history by being appointed as the Vice President of The Institution of Engineers (India) (IE(I)). This significant milestone marks the first time an engineer from Sikkim has ascended to such a high-ranking national position within IE(I), which stands as India’s largest and most prestigious professional engineering body, established in 1920. His appointment is a moment of immense pride for the entire state and its engineering community. Currently serving as Chairman of the IE(I) Sikkim State Centre and Vice Principal of ATTC Sikkim, Adhikari boasts over 27 years of extensive experience in teaching, training, and development. His robust academic background includes a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and an M. Tech in Mechatronics, both with distinction. He is also a Fellow of IE(I), a Chartered Engineer, and has undergone advanced training at esteemed institutions globally, including RMIT Australia, IIM Bangalore, and IIT Kharagpur. Beyond his professional qualifications, Shri Adhikari is recognized as a passionate educator and mentor, having conducted more than 1000 counselling and motivational programs across various regions. His elevation to Vice President not only acknowledges his lifelong dedication to engineering education and leadership but also firmly places Sikkim on the national engineering landscape, inspiring future generations of engineers from the state.
