Shaista Tahir Appointed Editor-in-Chief of Chemical Engineering & Technology Journals

Shaista Tahir has been named Editor-in-Chief for Chemical Engineering & Technology (CET) and Chemie Ingenieur Technik (CIT), effective December 2025. She succeeds Dr. Rosemary Puls and Dr. Sabine Wiederhold. Tahir, who holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry and joined Wiley in 2022, will lead the official journals of DECHEMA, GDCh, and VDI-GVC. She expressed excitement about shaping the journals' strategic direction, innovating, and supporting the rapidly expanding field of chemical engineering, building on her predecessors' strong foundation.

Dr. Shaista Tahir is set to become the new Editor-in-Chief of Chemical Engineering & Technology (CET) and Chemie Ingenieur Technik (CIT), effective December 2025. She will succeed Dr. Rosemary Puls and Dr. Sabine Wiederhold in leading these prominent journals, which serve as official publications for DECHEMA, GDCh, and VDI-GVC, covering a broad spectrum of chemical engineering research, industrial practices, and technological advancements.Tahir brings a robust academic and editorial background to her new role. She earned her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Heidelberg University in 2022, specializing in homogeneous catalysis and organophotocatalysis. Her journey with Wiley began in 2022 as an Assistant Editor, rapidly progressing to Associate Editor in 2023, where she gained significant experience in the peer-review processes for esteemed journals like Angewandte Chemie and Advanced Functional Materials.Expressing her enthusiasm, Tahir highlighted her eagerness to actively shape the strategic direction of both journals, explore innovative methods for presenting scientific work, and develop new initiatives to support authors and reviewers. She aims to foster innovation while upholding scientific rigor. Tahir recognizes chemical engineering as a dynamic and impactful field, appreciating its tangible real-world applications and its ability to bridge research with practical solutions. She intends to build upon the strong foundation laid by her predecessors, further enhancing the journals' visibility and impact within the German, European, and broader international scientific communities. Outside of work, Tahir enjoys exploring new hobbies, such as learning violin or swing dancing, which she finds fosters curiosity and creativity.
