Supreme Court Directs Petitioner to Delhi HC for Indigo Flight Crisis

The Supreme Court has instructed a lawyer, who filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding the Indigo flight crisis, to approach the Delhi High Court. The apex court noted that the Delhi High Court is already adjudicating the matter, suggesting the petitioner join the ongoing proceedings there. The Supreme Court clarified that it would only entertain new issues if they arise, a suggestion the petitioner accepted.

The Supreme Court of India recently addressed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) concerning the widespread disruptions and challenges faced due to the Indigo flight crisis. In its directive, the apex court advised the lawyer who filed the petition to instead approach the Delhi High Court. This decision was based on the Supreme Court's observation that the Delhi High Court is already actively engaged in hearing matters related to the same Indigo flight crisis.The Supreme Court clarified that the petitioner is at liberty to join the existing legal proceedings currently underway in the Delhi High Court. This approach aims to streamline legal efforts and prevent duplication of judicial resources on a matter already being addressed by another high court. Furthermore, the Supreme Court stipulated that while the immediate issues are to be handled by the Delhi High Court, parties involved would retain the option to approach the Supreme Court again if any new, distinct, or unforeseen issues emerge during the course of the proceedings. The petitioner reportedly agreed to this suggestion, indicating acceptance of the Supreme Court's guidance on the jurisdictional approach for the ongoing airline crisis. This directive ensures that the crisis receives appropriate judicial attention without fragmenting the legal process.
