Northwest India, including the national capital Delhi, is currently under the influence of a western disturbance, leading to widespread rainfall on Tuesday and expected to continue through Wednesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that a new western disturbance will impact the Western Himalayan region starting April 11. This weather pattern will result in day temperatures remaining below normal until April 15, offering a temporary reprieve from the heat. Delhi has been issued a yellow alert for rain, with expected day temperatures ranging from 25-27 degrees Celsius and evening temperatures between 16-18 degrees Celsius. However, a gradual increase in Delhi's day temperatures is anticipated from April 9, though nights are expected to remain cool. The current western disturbance is positioned over northeast Pakistan and adjacent Afghanistan. Isolated hailstorm activity is predicted for April 8 across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and East Uttar Pradesh. Further east, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh until April 13, and in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until April 11. The IMD has also warned of an intense rainfall spell over East India on April 8, with isolated hailstorms likely in Bihar and Jharkhand on the same day.
